Email security is serious stuff. Please don’t take it lightly.

If your email account is compromised it WILL create a litany of problems, and they will all negatively impact how you communicate with the world – and your customers.

Resolving email hacks can take hours, days, or even weeks!

The best defense here is a good offense, and that starts with a STRONG PASSWORD.

I know it’s more work (or a little bit more work), but I promise it’s a lot less work than dealing with your email being hacked and customers getting sent very inappropriate emails that look like they are coming from you.

I recently helped someone with this issue. It came to light when someone started getting email from my client with bogus links in them, where they were to “pay their invoice immediately or be terminated.”

Needless to say it was not an email sent by my client. It was also somewhat embarrasing.

Two Recommendations

(1) Check out a password management system called Last Pass (http://lastpass.com). I’ve used it for many years and it’s a great tool to help you properly and safely manage your passwords.

(2) Always use a STRONG password. Avoid using the same password for multiple logins. Here’s some great guidance on strong passwords:

Last Pass generates strong passwords for you, but if you don’t use Last Pass you can use the strong password geneator at this site: https://strongpasswordgenerator.com/
