Take an hour or so to find 3-5 of your biggest competitors on the Internet. Visit their websites. Visit their social media pages. Look at their storefronts at WeddingWire or The Knot.
Take notes, lots of notes:
- What are they doing that you COULD be doing?
- What are they doing that you SHOULD be doing?
- What are they currently doing better than you?
- If a bride and groom was comparing your website against these other websites, what would they likely be thinking. Look for anything that might put your company at a competitive disadvantage.
Put a reminder in your Google Calendar to review your competition regularly, or at least every six months. Use the research to fine-tune your own marketing and offerings to brides and grooms. If you do not have time to do it, outsource it to a qualified individual.
