Although I could rant about this for days, I’ll try to keep this short.

Anyone who thinks you can put your marketing or sales on “auto-pilot” needs their head examined.

OK, now you’re mad at me. Sorry, but it’s true.

Oh, for sure, the idea of never being rejected on the phone or face-to-face is a nice concept.

Yes, as human beings we are hardwired to avoid REJECTION, but PLEASE stop “drinking the kool-aid.”

Thinking that you can automate your marketing and sales and put them on “auto-pilot” is a huge mistake and it’s hurting your business.

The only reason you want to believe this is because you fear rejection.

SIDENOTE: Did you know that airplanes, even though they can, never take off or land using auto-pilot? It’s the most critical point of the process and much is at stake. It should not be “automated” even though it can be!

And please, don’t pull the “but Chris, they’re millennial” card out. If you believe this you’ve been going to way too many WeddingWire webinars.

People still buy from people.

Brides and grooms, I don’t care how old they are, or what generation they are from, want to buy from another PERSON.

They might say it doesn’t matter if you asked them – but that’s simply NOT true.

The business owners in the wedding industry that I see doing VERY well and generating $100,000+ a year in revenue DO NOT have their marketing or sales “automated.”

They have a strategy to generate leads cost effectively, they have a SALES SYSTEM, and they pick up the phone and SELL.

Are they using technology more effectively than most? Absolutely. That’s just smart.

If you really want to increase your annual revenue, if you really want to enjoy the prosperous life that comes with a six-figure income – create a lead generating system and sales system – and start using the phone to sell.

FACTOID: 80% of sales are made on the 5th to 8th contact. If you quit after two or three follow-up attempts you’re handing a lot of sales to your competition.
